She has served in this capacity since 1976. Janet was born in Tulsa, OK and moved to the Tioga area in 1961 when her father transferred with Manning, Maxwell and Moore(Dresser Industries). Janet is a graduate of Tioga High School. She received her early training in the piano and organ in Tulsa and has served numerous churches as pianist and/or organist since moving to this area.
Janet worked for the Continental Southern Bus Lines and AFCO Industries before becoming a full time mother. She presently serves as organist at Tioga First Baptist Church and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Tioga in addition to her work at Hixson Brothers.
Janet is married to Terry Rutherford. She is the mother of two children; Liane, a middle school English teacher and Wes, a motorcycle police officer. They have given her the greatest joy of her life, four grandchildren; Will, Emily, Ben and Monica.
In July of 2005, Janet began a new chapter in her service at Hixson Brothers as part-time receptionist in the Alexandria offices but will continue as organist in the Pineville facility.
