Steve was born and raised in Central Louisiana. He entered funeral service in February of 1985, serving his apprenticeship, at Hixson Brothers. In August of 1986, he left for Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science, Houston, Texas. Upon graduation, he returned to Hixson Brothers to pursue his career as a licensed funeral director.
He is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, Louisiana Funeral Directors Association and the North Louisiana Funeral Directors Association.
Steve is an active member of St. James Episcopal Church. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, landscaping and spending time with his three miniature schnauzers, DeDe, Shelby and Chaz.
